A famous novel by Ludwig Van Beethoven

The Romance for violin and orchestra No 2, op. 50 by Ludwig van Beethoven is a marvel song, in my opinion one of the best music made for the quoted string instrument. The melody of this masterpiece is able to convey a sense of well being and celestial serenity rarely can be found as such in other works of classical music. Composed by German musician in 1802, following four years of the Sonatas for Violin and Piano (op. 12), as well as other violin sonatas (namely 5) written in 1801, a few years after this romance will come to light other musical compositions by Beethoven ( sonatas and concertos), which will always have the violin as a main tool. Mankiewicz, The Fugitive (1959) by Sidney Lumet, The Night of the Iguana (1964) by John Huston. Many of these films have made use of a cast important (I have worked as actors Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Burt Lancaster, Richard Burton, Montgomery Clift, Elizabeth Taylor, Anna Magnani, Katharine Hepburn, Ava Gardner, etc..) And some have also been influential awards. "The young poetry" is the title from a poetry anthology edited by literary critic Henry Falqui which was published by Carlo Colombo in Rome in 1956. Si può ben dire che siano qui rappresentati tutti, o quasi, i poeti di allora (in età giovanile) più importanti e più bravi. Anche i gruppi e le correnti letterarie sono riprodotti totalmente: troviamo infatti poeti postermetici, neorealisti, della "Quarta generazione", cattolici e perfino qualcuno di coloro che di lì a pochi anni si sarebbero definiti "Novissimi". The ten most beautiful love poems in Italian literature

Quanto ho detto nel post dedicato alle canzoni d'amore vale anche per le poesie, visto che la maggior parte dei versi scritti dai poeti italiani (e non solo) sono versi d'amore indirizzati per lo più alla donna o all'uomo oggetto d'amore. Fa eccezione una poesia unica quale è "A Silvia" di Giacomo Leopardi, qui l'amore (ormai perduto) non è soltanto riferito alla figura femminile ma anche alla vita e alla natura, come si capisce leggendo questi pochi indimenticabili versi: « Mirava il blue, / The golden streets, gardens, / And thou from the distant sea, and then the mountain. / Tongue can not say / That I felt then. / / What sweet, / What hopes, what hearts, O Silvia mia! / What appeared to us / The Life and Fate! .

Il secondo sonetto dantesco che ho scelto è sempre rivolto all'amata Beatrice la quale produce un effetto benefico simile a qualcosa di divino in chi la osserva, come dimostrano these verses: "The view onne thing is his humble, And does not seem pleasing herself alone, / But each receives honor for her. / / And it's so nice in her acts, / That no one can bear in mind, / That does not sigh in sweetness of love. "
meditation is the opera by Alessandro Parronchi entitled "Days". The vast majority of the songs (Italian or not) deal with the theme of love, so if you only think of the number of songs that were written at least the last century, even if they wanted to narrow the field one Italian song, is a difficult task to choose only ten. E poi Domenico Modugno con una accorata dichiarazione d'amore, e, per chiudere, una vecchia canzone che vuole descrivere la grandezza dell'amore unita alla sua imparagonabile straordinarietà: "Non dimenticar...".

forgotten Italian poets of the nineteenth and twentieth century

There is a large group of Italian poets who published books of verse from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century and which is always (or almost) excluded from anthologies of Italian poetry, whether in the nineteenth century, both the twentieth century. Yet these writers were in their time, a wide audience of readers and lacks even the consents and judgments in favor of eminent critics, in one of them was not forgiven the support (in some cases almost sheer) to the Fascist regime, other soon fell into oblivion or were deemed by experts, a sort of emulation of the nineteenth century when this poem was now out of time. Beyond these speeches and reasons, probably right, that these poets were and still are excluded from any poetic repertoire on the recent two centuries just past, is in my notice a duty to remember, at least as "meteor" or "flash" of an era (the one at the turn of two centuries earlier mentioned), perhaps not generally mentioned in the texts of Italian literature. Then recalled an interesting anecdote: When Giovanni Papini Peter Pancrazi and in 1920 they released the famous anthology they edited Poets of today, there were many influential critics who complained about the absence in this anthology selection of poets and writers, including these were writers such as John Bertacchi, John Cena, Francesco Gaeta, Peter Masters, who, by popular demand, then found space in the second edition (1925) this anthology. Here is the list, including a brief biobibliografia, the poets in question.

JOHN BERTACCA (Chiavenna 1869 - Milan 1943). From 1916 to 1938 he was professor of Italian literature at the University of Padua, wrote several studies among which those on Leopardi and Dante Alighieri. His books of poetry are: The song of the Alps (1895), lyrical poem (1898), human Lyrical (1903), Wellsprings (1906), A flower of silence (1912) , horizons Reflections (1921), the perennial tomorrow (1929).

JOHN CENA (Montanaro 1870 - Rome 1917). He was a journalist, novelist and poet, he held for a long time the position of chief editor in the literary magazine "Nuova Antologia". He published the following books of poetry: Mother (1897), In Umbria (1899) and Homo (1907), posthumously released the complete book of his poems (1922).

ALFRED JOHN CAESAR (Messina 1860 - Palermo 1937). Poet, playwright, literary critic and university professor, was among the other member of the Academy of science, literature and arts of Palermo and correspondent member of the bran. Poetic works: Under the orange (1881), The West (1887), hymns (1895), The Consolations (1895), Poems (1912), The songs of Pan (1920), Poems shadow (1923), Conversations with God (1928).

ADOLFO DE BOSISIO (Ancona 1863 - Pietralacroce 1924). He directed the magazine "The Banquet", translated the works of Shelley and wrote poems collected in the following books: Love ac silentio sacrum (1900), ac silentio Love and The Rime sparse (1914).

Francesco Gaetano (Naples 1879 - therein 1927). Journalist and poet as well as critical (they took the work of Salvatore Di Giacomo), was editor of "The Mattaccini. He published the following poetic works: The Book of youth (1895), revival (1900), voluptuous Sonnets and Other Poems (1906), Love Poems (1920), Benedetto Croce was a treat in the posthumous edition His Poems (1928).

GAROGLIO DIEGO (Montafia 1866 - Asti 1933). Scholar and teacher, was a collaborator of the magazine "New Life" and "Il Marzocco" poet from the vein easily, he published several collections, including: Poems (1892), Sorrento Poems (1893), Two souls (1898), Elena (1901), social Songs (1904), The fair river of Arno (1912), Humanity (1922), Songs of Pietramala (1930), Songs of the Dolomites (1930), The villa, the park, the farm (1930) .

Pubblicò i seguenti volumi di versi: Humus (1892), Sonetti secolari (1896), Voci lontane (1898), Luci e ombre (1904), Narciso (1907), Le Opere e i Giorni (1920), Espiazione (1923), Rassegnazione (1927), La voce della gran Madre Antica (1933).

PETER MASTRO (Pirro Masetti, Florence 1868 - therein 1932). Poet and lawyer, worked at magazines such as "Il Marzocco", "New Anthology" and "New Life". Poetic works: poetic fragments (1893), Rainbow (1900 ¹, 1920 ²), mirror and sickle (1907), The sundial (1920), The leaf swinging (1923), The path of the stars (1927), last song (posthumously, 1933).

ADA NEGRI (Lodi 1870 - Milan 1945). Initially a primary school teacher, found fame after the first poetic works: Fatality (1892) and Storms (1895), followed by: Motherhood (1904), From the bottom (1910), Exile (1914), Mara's book (1919), The songs Island (1924), evening (1930), The Gift (1935), posthumously, he published a book containing his complete work in verse: Poems (1948).

ANGIOLO Orvieto (Florence 1869 - therein 1968). Poet, essayist, librettist and playwright, was co-founder of "New Life" and "Marzocco" he wrote many poems collected in volumes: The mystical bride (1893), Mystical bride. The veil of Maya Bride (1898), Towards the East (1902), The Seven Laws (1912), the bagpipe Springs (1925), The Wind of Zion (1928), The banners wild (1934).

Francesco Pastonchi (Riva Ligure 1874 - Torino 1953). Poet, novelist and playwright, after graduation he taught literature at the University of Turin. Poetic works: Sapphic (1892), couplets Aurel (1895), The carousel of love songs (1898), Italic (1903), Belfonte (1903), At the edge of the shadow (1905), The pilot is asleep (1913), The stray (1921), Italic. new poems (1923), Verses (1930), Poems of Friendship (1943), hendecasyllables (1949).

Mikhail Vrubel: A Russian Symbolist painter

Mikhail Vrubel (Omsk 1856 - St. Petersburg, 1910) was a Russian symbolist painter. Belonging to a military family, he graduated in law at St Petersburg 1880. In 1881 he attended the Russian Academy of Fine Arts, there was as a teacher Pavel Chistyakova. After some years he lived in poverty in 1884, he was given the task of restoration of the mosaics dating from the twelfth century in the church of S. Cyril in Kiev, before starting this difficult work Vrubel he went to Venice to study the art of the Christian Middle Ages, and in Venice he met the Russian painter and appreciated the art of painting by Giovanni Bellini and created several works which, however, were almost all lost .
